Welcome to the City of Connellsville, located in Fayette County in Southwestern Pennsylvania along the banks of the Youghiogheny River. Originally founded as a borough on March 1, 1806, in February 1909, balloting in New Haven and Connellsville resulted in these two boroughs joining and becoming the first City on Fayette County on May 12, 1911, and currently has a population of 9,146, according to the 2000 census.

Summer Sports Camp

Sports Camp will begin on Monday, June 18th. This year there will be Tennis (at the Connellsville High School), Golf (at Mountz Creek Park) and Basketball (at Woodruff Park). Camps will run two days a week, Monday through Friday for two hours. Sign-up forms are available at City Hall, The Health Insurance Store and under the Customer Services link above. Registration cost is $20 for the first child, $10 for the second child and $5 for the 3rd child. Plus, if the first child signs up for additional camps, the cost for those camps is only $10; if the second and third children sign up for additional camps the cost is only $5. Details are still being worked out, but sign up early and get in on this program. Your kids will love it.

Practical Self Defense for Women

Classes teaching practical self defense techniques to women, designed to help keep you safe. Come learn from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm from Don Witt, Certified Instructor. You do not have to be athletic, young strong or have experience. Classes every 3rd Saturday of the month (May 19th, June 16th, July 21st, August 18th, September 15th, October 20th, November 17th and December 15th). All proceeds benefit Carnegie Free Library - Suggested donation $5.00

CAHS 9/11 Shirts

Due to popular demand, the CAHS Patriots are taking orders for the 9/11 commemorative shirts that were sold in August and September. The cost is $10.00 each. Anyone interested should email their order (size and quantity) to Lshearer@casdfalcons.org If you missed getting one the last time, you can get one now, for yourself, your friends or as a keepsake. All money raised goes towards the men and women serving this great nation of ours.

1st Annual 'Bike for 'Books' and Community Health Fair

Join the FRIENDS of the Library and come to Yough Park on May 19th for the first annual 10 mile bike ride on the Yough River Trail to benefit the Friends of the Library. The cost for this will be $15.00 if you pre-register and $20.00 the day of the event. All race participamts will receive a commemorative t-shirt and the knowledge they are helping to support the fine Carnegie Free Library right here in Connellsville. A Health Fair will also be in Yough Park. For more information call the library at 724-628-1380

Hard-to Recycle Drop Off Event

Planned in cooperation with PA Cleanways and the Fayette County Office Of Recycling & Solid Waste. Items accepted are: used motor oil; used tires ($1.00 cost); large steel appliances ($2.00 cost); old electronic items ($1.00 cost). Television sets and computers will have a cost of $5.00 each. Contact the Fayette County Recycling Hotline at 724-430-4884 if you have any questions.
