Official statement from Dr David Alan regarding his corner lot in town. Anyone interested in beautifying his lot must submit plans in writing to his office downtown. Dr Alan will then review the plans and give permission to those individuals to work on his lot. Thank you!
As a proud member of the City of Connellsville, I am greatly concerned about the state of the vacant lot I own adjoining my office at 110 S. Pittsburgh St. It has come to my attention that it is the center of a dispute about what art is and is art a form of communication and hence protected by the freedom of speech. It is a dispute in which I do not wish to be involved.
When I recently gave my neighbor, Peter, permission to display his art on my property, I was led to believe that it would be conventional art as Peter expressed his deep desire to improve the City of Connellsville one piece at a time. As it turns out, he misrepresented himself and is using my lot to create a platform that is disrupting the community.
Please be assured that I have no desire to disrupt the City of Connellsville or create something that the majority of its citizens consider borderline art. I am therefore rescinding my permission to Peter for him to display his art on my lot. I wish for my lot to be a beautiful display of nature as it was before I gave Peter permission to display his controversial art.
